What may arrive in each envelope
You are joining the waitlist, not purchasing today. Your postal address will only be requested if you choose to subscribe later. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Is this a free newsletter?
No. Post from Hidden Vienna is planned as a paid physical letter subscription. Joining the waitlist is free, but the letter series itself will be a paid annual subscription when it opens.
Am I buying anything today?
No. The waitlist simply allows you to receive the first invitation when the subscription opens.
Will the letters be physical?
Yes. This project is built around physical mail. The letters are intended to arrive by post.
Do I need to give my postal address now?
No. At the waitlist stage, only your name, email address, country, and language preference are needed. Your postal address will only be requested if you later decide to subscribe.
Will the letters be available in English or German?
The waitlist will ask for your preferred language: English, German, or both. This will help shape the first launch.
Will you ship outside Austria?
The intention is to make the letters available beyond Austria if postage and fulfillment allow it. Your country helps estimate demand and shipping needs before launch.
Is this the same as The Salon or Substack?
No. The Salon is for essays and digital cultural writing from Understanding Vienna. Post from Hidden Vienna is a separate physical correspondence subscription. When the subscription opens, payment will be handled separately, likely through Payhip.
Will there be other correspondence series later?
Possibly. A future correspondence series may one day follow The Whisper Files, with archival notes, field discoveries, and case materials. The first launch, however, is focused only on The First Whisper Letters.
Will I need to commit for a full year?
The first series is being imagined as a twelve-month correspondence, with one letter arriving each month. When the paid subscription opens, we may also offer a shorter first entry option, such as three or six months, for readers who would like to begin more gently.
